![]() ![]() A zero food waste policy means unused ingredients are incorporated back into sauces and salsas for dishes at La Semilla or made into tinctures or syrups for riffs on classic cocktails. And don’t skip the chochoyotes (masa dumplings filled with corn puree) served atop a thin layer of coconut-corn broth topped with a poblano-corn sofrito and matcha oil and fried tortillas for scooping. Start off with sikil pak (spicy pumpkin seed and tomato dip) served with fresh tortilla chips. Forged from a pop-up launched just before the pandemic, La Semilla is a flavor-packed triumph of vegan dishes, like meatless versions of vegan chicken tamals steamed in banana leaves served with a punchy ancho sauce, croquetas de jamon stuffed with seitan ham Tranpani makes himself, and bistec de palomilla made with Lion’s Mane mushrooms. And for owners Sophia Marchese and Reid Trapani, La Semilla (or the seed) is just the beginning of a new chapter in their restaurant careers. just my 2 cents! But I will say G&L official store is having a march sale and it's super tempting.La Semilla flexes the flavors of Cuban and Mexican dishes on a menu rooted in veganism and family recipes. I def GAS in other hobbies like fishing, swimming, coffee makings, nearly all hobbies, oh boy I don't wanna even think of it right now XD! Anyway. Pedals for sure I am starting to get it for, I am a very have little pedals person but at the same time I been studying some pedals for fun been trying to find one size fits all, but I think I'm gonna have to get compressor and OD on it's own. I def feel like when playing with others it's not as strong and also having most of what you want helps it. Sometimes I truly want something but it goes away after some days the urge. A lot of people also with GAS in the music I personally notice aren't so much gigging or performer musicians so it is what they want, and there's nothing wrong with that it's a hobby and it's about the fun. Same with my basses, I guess I am not totally content on my amp or pedals, still rocking a rumble but it does the job. I invested into a Canon camera while I do GAS for lens I am very happy with my camera model. Which obv really not true for most cases. I think some people have GAS because they think better or newer gear = skill. I find with all my hobbies once you find what works for you and you have the intermediate gear in your hobby it helps. Of course you never know, and I did find myself wandering to a pickup page last night after I forgot to unplug an active bass for a few weeks. I hope to stay GAS free by focusing on the act of doing music and keeping my fundamental gear around. Rarely use more than an SM58 or SM57.Īnyways, just some thoughts. ![]() Mics - like cables, I have more than enough. A newer interface isn't going to make me sound better if I don't practice.ĭrums - love my set, its cheap but I hand picked the cymbals and love how everything sounds. I have a 4 channel one, rarely use more than 1 channel at a time. Recording gear - inbox solutions are so good. Plus, stock plugins are pretty dang good these days. And later when you open a session your plugins often don't work. And they're all pretty much the same so no GAS to have more than one MFX laying around. Digital MultiFX and modelers have been reliable AF for me over 23 years of playing. Only want a few rugged amps & cabs for a few different scenarios. Don't want more, just want to play mine more.Īmps - never had AMP gas. Finalized my bass and guitar collection between 20, bought probably 20 axes and kept 10. Mods - did everything I wanted, not fun to restring. Pickups - expensive, love/hate relationship, EMG makes everything easy so GAS is gone and I might add some of this back at some point, but I don't crave having them around like I used to. I do miss some gear pieces like my grooveboxes and drum machines and MIDI studio and having a killer organ/synthesizer around. Also the amateur lutherie stuff that I did for years and years often came back to bite me, so I decided to start having professionals recommend parts and do the important work. And I'm at the point where new gear doesn't help me - it just distracts from the awesome gear I have and takes away from actually doing music with my free time. I also used that gear to self-produce a ton of music (original/remixes/covers), to play several hundred gigs and rehearsals with around 8 bands, so anymore I just want to work on my instrument technique and songwriting. I've just tried so dang much gear since starting music in 2000 that I don't have any more innate curiosity about "what does this piece of gear sound like". I had GAS for a long time off and on, and find the GAS threads really interesting. ![]()
